Come to Tenley Library to learn about writing from Writopia Lab
Sign up for a creative writing workshop for young people between the ages of 13 - 19 provided by Writopia Lab. In these hour-long workshops held published authors, poets and playwrights will guide youth in authoring their own work of creative writing based on a social issue that they are passionate about. All workshops are multi-genre (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays may be explored). Sessions are peppered with original and fun writing exercises to get the creative juices flowing and help writers to reflect on social issues impacting youth today. The workshop will end with time for writers to share their work and receive insightful feedback from both the instructor and their peers. Each workshop is limited to 15 participants.
This event is a part of the Know Your Power Contest. DC Public Library Foundation and Pepco have teamed up with DC Public Library to host a contest for artists, writers, photographers and musicians between the ages of 13 - 19. Teens can submit creative work on a social issue through Aug. 16. Learn more and submit your creative work on the contest page.
