Your developing reader will love discovering the science behind the natural wonder of snowflakes with our Beyond the Book: Snowy Day STEM Kit-To-Go. Only available at the MLK Library.
Snow is a scientific wonder of our natural world. Peter knows it as he looks out his bedroom window in awe at seemingly endless snow-covered rooftops all across the city. Does snow invoke the same feelings for you? Then, you’ll love learning more about the science behind snowflakes with our Snowy Day STEM Kit-To-Go. Each kit includes instructions and materials to perform five science experiments, a Snowflake Science informational booklet, and a list of recommended STEM reads for developing readers. Our favorite part of the kit? The DIY Make Your Own Snow experiment using the included shaving cream and baking soda (you provide the tablecloth). The resulting polymer is super cool like our favorite polymer of all time- slime.
Snowy Day STEM Kits-To-Go are only available at the MLK Jr. Memorial Library for children in kindergarten through third grade. Children must live in the District and sign up for the Beyond the Book book club to receive a Snowy Day STEM Kit-To-Go. Come to the children’s room, located on the second floor of the MLK Jr. Memorial Library, register for Beyond the Book and receive your Snowy Day STEM Kit-To-Go. Kits are available on a first come, first served basis only.
