District Arcade 2025

District Arcade is a free celebration of video games and game makers from DC and the DMV area.

District Arcade 2025 is brought to you by the DC Chapter of the International Game Developers Association, or IGDA DC.

At District Arcade, you're invited to play locally-crafted indie games and chat with their creators in this fun, family-friendly, in-person event.

There will be 20-30 local developers showcasing games of different genres and levels of completion, ranging from prototypes to complete games.

We'll also have a make-your-own game station featuring Octostudio, an easy-to-use mobile coding app from the makers of Scratch at MIT, where anyone can code a game using their own pictures, sounds, and animations.

Read on for a list of just some of the games you'll be able to try out at District Arcade:

• Nekomancer of Nowhere - An isometric glyph drawing puzzle action game: draw spells on your screen as the Nekomancer! Swap between the realms of life and death, revive ghosts, and uncover Tombstone Tower's haunting truth! Made by a group of graduated George Mason University students.

• BLUMA - Join Bluma in this cozy puzzle-platforming adventure where you make the platforms. It’s up to Bluma, a magical chinchilla, to unite the elemental realms by solving physics-based puzzles and farming vegetables. Made by a local hobbyist developer.

• Even Goblins Fall in Love - What happens when a Goblin falls in love with a Princess? An epic quest through an 8-bit world! An RPG built for the NES. Made by a George Mason University Professor.

• Blue Ridge Hunting - Blue Ridge Hunting is an online co-op horror game. You and up to 4 friends will investigate, document, and hunt cryptids in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern America. Based on real sightings, phenomena, and legends from the region. Made by a local hobbyist developer with some ties to West Virginia.

• Crypt Crawler - Descend 16 monster-filled levels to close the gate to the Underworld in this top-down tower defense dungeon crawler. Gather resources, discover blueprints, and build defensive towers to slice, dice, zap, and explode undead hordes. Play solo or 2-4 player local co-op. Made by a local Unity developer.
