Our new mental health specialist, Leta Davis LICSW, will be serving free, ice cold agua fresca beverages in the main lobby for all visitors.
Leta is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and the Mental Health Specialist at DC Public Library. Leta has eight years of experience providing direct care to individuals in the District.
As a Mental Health Specialist at DCPL, Leta supports library patrons by providing a listening ear and tools to help customers reach their goals. She connects patrons with community resources, including long-term mental health care. What library customers share with Leta is confidential.
Prior to working at DC Public Library, Leta was the program director at Joseph’s House, a DC-based medical respite bed program. She oversaw all clinical programming at Joseph’s House, supervising a team of social workers, nurses, and hands-on care providers. Leta previously worked as a clinical supervisor at Pathways to Housing. She began her career as a homeless outreach specialist at Pathways, working to connect individuals experiencing homelessness in DC to needed resources. Leta is certified in grief and trauma therapy through the Wendt Center.
Leta is at Mount Pleasant Library on Thursdays from 5 pm until 8 pm. She also provides mental health services at Anacostia Library, Martin Luther King Jr. Library, Shaw/Watha T. Daniel Library and West End Library. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, contact Leta at 202-823-0047.
