Local authors Tom Adams and Joy Jones will discuss their latest book, "A Marriage That Changed the World: Lois & Bill Wilson and the Addiction Recovery Movement," with Dr. Gadhia-Smith.
Dr. Gadhia-Smith is an internationally known therapist and best-selling author of "From Addiction to Recovery" and "Practical Therapy." Dr. Gadhia-Smith offers counseling services in Maryland and Washington, DC. She has expertise with individual counseling, family counseling, marriage counseling, addiction services, and advice on relationships, spirituality and self-esteem.
Tom Adams, MSW, is a retired non-profit executive and consultant. He is passionate about broadening awareness that recovery from addiction is possible for the individual with the addiction and their family. He is the author of The Nonprofit Leadership Transition and Development Guide and the "Critical Conversations Blog" (www.thadams.com). He posts often on spirituality, recovery, and racial justice.
Joy Jones is the author of seven books for adults and children and a popular speaker on topics of culture and literacy. She is the former director of community relations for Psychiatric Institute of Washington and cofounder of a creative expression program at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC.
