Celebrating LGBTQ+ artistry in theater.
Come join the Library and Mosaic Theater Company World Pride for evening featuring a sneak preview performance of Mosaic's DC Premiere production of Andy Warhol in Iran. The night will highlight LGBTQ+ artistry both on and offstage, with the show centering the queer icon and artist himself followed by a conversation with some of the queer artists involved in its creation.
Andy Warhol in Iran takes place in 1976, when less than 3 years before her exile, the Empress Farah beckons Andy Warhol to begin pop-art portraits of the royals in Tehran. When a fascinating University student takes Warhol hostage to publicize his group’s demands, a life or death struggle ensues over revolution, responsibility and the arts.
