Please join us for a reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibit We Are Your Neighbors.
The DC Public Library is pleased to host a very special opening program in celebration of Older Americans Month. The opening reception will be held May 1, 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library, in partnership with the DC Department of Aging and Community Living. Please join us for storytelling and conversation with local residents featured in the exhibit, hosted by our special guest, Washington's own Pat Collins, formerly of NBC4 News. Light refreshments will be served.
About the Exhibit
Created by Cleveland & Woodley Park Village to celebrate Older Americans Month, the exhibit We Are Your Neighbors shares the stories and faces of eight long-time neighborhood residents. Visitors will find striking portraits displayed outside the library, interactive exhibits inside, and audio recordings where they can hear each person's story in their own voice.
The exhibit is a powerful reminder of the wisdom, history, and contributions of older adults in the Cleveland and Woodley Park communities. Funded in part by a grant from HumanitiesDC, the exhibit also includes special programs led by the Village—great opportunities to connect with older neighbors and explore what aging really looks like in the District.
This exhibition is made possible in part through a grant from Humanities DC.
