How the Privileged and the Propertied Broke the Engine of American Opportunity.
Yoni Appelbaum, deputy executive editor of The Atlantic, will talk about his new book "Stuck: How the Privileged and the Properties Broke the Engine of American Opportunity" Wednesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Juanita E. Thornton-Shepherd Park Library, 7420 Georgia Ave NW.
Appelbaum poses the argument that upward economic mobility has been severely jeopardized by the United States' worsening housing availability crisis, leaving poorer Americans stuck in neighborhoods and cities because they cannot afford to move elsewhere.
He discusses Washington's Shepherd Park neighborhood, where he moved in 2016, in his analysis in "Stuck."
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Juanita E. Thornton-Shepherd Park Library.
