Test yourself, build your skills, and earn certificates to prove your skills with Northstar, a nationally-recognized digital literacy assessment program.
Does using a computer or smart phone stress you out? Do you feel like you're just not very good at it?
With practice, you CAN be good at using computers and smart phones!
A great place to start is with DC Public Library and Northstar, a nationally-recognized digital literacy tool for learning and earning certificates in several essential digital skills.
With Northstar, you can build confidence by gaining real time feedback on your learning, so that you can prove to yourself and others that you have digital skills!
Prerequisites: basic typing and using a mouse.

Northstar provides certifications in the following topics:
In each session, we will:
2-2:30 pm: Get an introduction to using Northstar, get set up, and take self assessments in the topic(s) of your choice.
2:30-3 pm: Review results & self-paced study.
3-3:30 pm: Opportunity for certification exams- any participant who passes a certification exam with 85% or more correct will receive a NorthStar Digital Literacy Assessment certification.
3:30-4 pm: Q&A and next steps-independent study plan.
