Have you ever been curious about scuba diving and the equipment diver’s use? Join for our Book Hill Talk!
SCUBA stands for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. Learn the basics of recreational and professional scuba diving and the essential parts of the wet suit. Discover how the different parts of the tank apparatus work together to help divers breathe underwater, and the steps to become a certified diver. Also, learn how U.S. Navy divers use specialized scientific equipment to find artifacts as part of their underwater research. This program continues NMUSN’s commitment to offsite programming within the communities it serves.
About the Speaker: David Barker, MEd, is an educator at the National Museum of the United States Navy. He is an Army Infantry veteran and previously was a classroom history and science teacher. This program is a collaboration with D.C Public Library and the Underwater Archaeology Branch, Naval History and Heritage Command.
