Families are invited to explore playful early learning activities, pick up fun prizes, enjoy two shows by Marsha and the Positrons, and get great ideas for ways to sing, talk, and read at home!
DC Public Library is excited to celebrate STAR (Singing, Talking and Reading) with children ages birth to 5 and their families at STAR Days!
Drop in throughout the afternoon to enjoy two musical performances by local favorite Marsha and the Positrons at 11:30am and 12:30pm, and explore a world of fun hands-on activities related to:
Singing: Singing slows down words so children can hear and learn all the small sounds that make up language.
Talking: Talking with your child helps them understand how stories are structured and how to have give-and-take conversations.
Reading: Incorporating reading into your family routine helps your child stay excited about books, reading, and learning.
Writing: Writing and drawing builds your child's motor skills and helps them understand that printed letters stand for spoken words.
Playing: Incorporating play into your learning routine helps your child understand that reading and learning can be fun!
Take home fun prizes and also great ideas for incorporating STAR into your everyday routine. When you practice STAR with your little one, you know you’re setting them up to be confident and joyful learners.
