We're excited to welcome Tre'vell Anderson, and jarrett hill, to the MLK library to kick off Historically Black Phrases Live! The game show adaptation of their latest book.
Historically Black Phrases Live! is a live game show, in celebration of Black History Month. The event is an adaptation of the book 'Historically Black Phrases: From ‘I Ain’t One Of Your Lil’ Friends’ to ‘Who All Gon’ Be There?’' The game show will feature contestants, who will compete in several rounds of gameplay rooted in trivia about Black culture. The trivia includes, but is not limited to, iconic Black movies, popular music lyrics, and famous Black actors. The runtime for the show is approximately 2 hours, and will include moments of audience participation. The highest-scoring contestant will advance to the final round, which involves a test on all things related to 'Boo Boo The Fool' and other Historically Black Phrases.
This program is sponsored by the DC Public Library Foundation and 50 copies of the book have been donated as gifts for select audience members.
