The Children's Room at MLK Library is collecting handmade Valentine’s Day cards for DC's homebound seniors. Card making kits are available on a first come, first served basis.
DCPL is teaming up with the Department on Aging and Community Living to collect handmade Valentine’s Day cards for DC's homebound seniors as part of the Cupid's Kids program! No matter if you are 3 or or 93, everyone can help us make this Valentine's Day extra special for our seniors.
Please bring the cards you made to the Children's Room of the MLK Library by Feb. 4. Cupid's Kids Card Making Kits to Go are available on a first come, first served basis. Kits may not be reserved.
The Children's Room is located on the second floor. Valentines will be delivered to seniors who receive home delivered meals.
Valentine Card Helpful Hints for Kids:
Decorate with Valentine’s Day theme in mind.
If you want, share fun facts about yourself inside of the card (e.g., favorite hobbies, pets, school, etc.)
“Sign” the card with your first name and age. No last name or address, please.
Write positive messages. Seniors that are homebound are not ill or isolated in all cases. We want to simply send a cheerful note to brighten their day!
