Share a video of you reading a favorite poem by a Black author for this collaborative celebration of Black poetry!
The Georgetown Neighborhood Library invites people of all backgrounds, from ages 8-108 to participate in our community celebration of Black poetry. To participate, sign up here, and let us know what poem you'd like to read. (It's okay to give more than one option if you can't decide.) We will send you a link to submit your video and helpful tips for making your recording.
Poem readings must be two minutes or less and be appropriate for a wide variety of ages. Selections can be a short poem or a passage from a longer poem. From Phyllis Wheatley to Paul Lawrence Dunbar to Langston Hughes to Robert Hayden to Maya Angelou to Eloise Greenfield to Amanda Gorman to MANY other greats, find the work by a Black poet (other than yourself) that speaks to you and share it with us!
Sign up today and submit your video by February 15 to be included in the project. The resulting video will be shared on the library's website, YouTube and social media.
