Thomas Merton was an American Trappist monk, writer, theologian, mystic, poet, social activist and scholar. He is the author of more than 50 books but is probably most known for his bestselling autobiography The Seven Story Mountain.
He was a proponent of interfaith dialogue and understanding and was behind the dialogue with prominent Asian spiritual figures including the Dalai Lama.
What do his life and writings have to say to us at this time in history?
Join Rev. James Wiseman, OSB, Abbot at St. Anselm Abbey, for our next “Faith in Focus” talk as Abbot Wiseman examines the life and ministry of Thomas Merton.
Abbot James Wiseman has a B.A. in Education from Georgetown University. He attended the University of Freiburg and The Catholic University of America, S.T.B. 1969, M.A., 1970, and an STD., 1979.
