Come celebrate the richness of Afro-Cuban heritage at Mt. Pleasant Library!
Explore the Yoruba Tradition - Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30PM
Join Asokere DC for a free all-ages performance featuring Afro-Cuban song, dance, and drumming rooted in the Yoruba (Lucumi) tradition.
Experience:
* Live batá drumming
* Songs & dances honoring Ochun, the “orisha” of love and fertility
* Participation in a traditional call-and-response chorus
* Q&A with cultural practitioners
All are welcome! Registration is available but not required. Join us on Friday, July 11th for a second program with Asokere DC. These programs are sponsored by the Friends of Mt. Pleasant Library.
