Join us as Truth in Common leads a workshop on identifying and dispelling disinformation in our lives.
For this election edition of Truth in Common’s three-part workshop series, Deanna Troust will help participants understand what disinformation is, its impact on communities and democracy, and how to disrupt its spread – online and in conversation with others. In Part 1 Deanna will share terminology, examples, and why we are vulnerable. Part 2 features a local reporter as guest speaker and offers tips for checking facts and sources. In Part 3, participants practice listening and “perspective taking” as they discuss a topic of their choice. Grounded in disinformation research and social science, the program goes beyond individual learning to foster collaboration in addressing this pervasive problem.
