Stay out late with the Shepherd Park/Junita E. Thornton Library and Art All Night!
Check out our library performer stage, featuring Native American dance, spoken word performances, and stand-up comedy.
7 p.m.: Stand-up from Improbable Comedy
Improbable Comedy presents a great night of outdoor comedy. Join us for laughs with Dee Ahmed, Joey Friedman, and Gigi Modrich. Founded by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer Kim Levone, Improbable Comedy has hosted more than 100 shows in local venues around the DMV. The goal has been to transform the industry by giving the mic to hilarious comedians who have been underrepresented on stage. They aim to book more women, LBGTQ+, BIPOC, and immigrant comedians as well as performers with disabilities.
8 p.m.: Have a Voice spoken word performances
Have A Voice LLC was created by Author & Poet Miko Reed Collins to provide a platform & give voice to marginalized communities.
9:15 p.m.: Miss Chief Rocka will perform traditional Native American Powwow Dancing: The Jingle Dress Dance, Fancy Shawl Dance, Hoop Dance, Men's Traditional, Men's Fancy and Grass Dance, Drumming and storytelling.
(Please note: the final performance may begin a bit late, because the artist is coming from another location prior to this event. Thank you for your patience!)
