About Go-Go Preservation Week
In 2019, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser proclaimed Nov. 17-23 “Go-Go Awareness Week.” In February 2020, she signed DC Law 23-71 “Go-Go Official Music of the District of Columbia Designation Act,” ensuring that the sound created by Chuck Brown in concert with thousands of Washingtonians will forever survive as a joyous monument to creativity, community, and connection in our region.
This series of concerts, oral history recordings, urgent conversations, and “throwback” video screenings, honors the community for its role in protecting DC culture, and invites supporters to continue the conversation about how to preserve and strengthen this artform as the city continues to evolve. All events will be livestreamed and archived in the Go-Go Archive at District of Columbia Public Library where it will be housed for posterity and for the benefit of generations to come. All events will be livestreamed. Limited in-person tickets available. To RSVP, visit https://www.gogomuseum.com.
