Poet Tafisha Edwards shall explore themes of home, love, and identity in celebration of the 100th year anniversary of author James Baldwin, Juneteenth, and Pride month.
Join us for an event of profound reflection and celebration as we honor the 100th year anniversary of the influential author James Baldwin. In conjunction with Juneteenth and Pride month, our program will cover themes of self-love, freedom, home, and identity, echoing Baldwin's enduring legacy. Experience an exploration of self-love and the freedom to love, as poet Tafisha Edwards delve into Baldwin's profound insights. Drawing inspiration from Baldwin's seminal texts, The Fire Next Time and Giovanni’s Room, they will weave their own narratives in dialogue with Baldwin's timeless wisdom. Following each reading, engage in discussions moderated by Hayes Davis. This event is sponsored by Georgetown Library Friends group.
