In recognition of DC Pride, the DC Public Library is excited to host a funny and educational talk with award-winning author Fiona Dawson and DEI educator and consultant Eric Peterson.
We are excited to have Emmy award-nominated and award-winning filmmaker and author Fiona Dawson come to discuss her book: Are Bisexuals Just Greedy? Animated Answers For All People Who Simply Want To Understand The Spectrum of Being LGBTQ+.
Educator, inclusion, and diversity expert Eric Peterson will lead this conversation. Eric and Fiona will bring their experience in challenging bias to discuss Fiona's book.
Following the 45-minute conversation, the audience can ask questions and get a signed copy of the book. The first 50 registered attendees will get a copy of the book thanks to the DC Public Library Foundation. Learn more about the speakers and register to save your spot.

Fiona Dawson is an Emmy®-nominated and award-winning filmmaker. She is a proud bisexual, cisgender, immigrant woman from the LGBTQ+ community who uses media to advocate for equity. Following her Emmy®-nominated short New York Times op-doc "Transgender, at War and in Love,"
Fiona was honored by President Obama as an LGBT Artist Champion of Change and her feature documentary, "TransMilitary," premiered at SXSW 2018 winning the Audience Award. Her acclaimed book, “Are Bisexuals Just Greedy? Animated Answers for All People Who Simply Want to Understand the Spectrum of Being LGBTQ+,” is a four times #1 bestseller on Amazon, and Fiona was on honoree on the OUT100 2022: LGBTQ+ Titans of Media and Entertainment.
Fiona’s company, Free Lion Productions, produces "NOW with Fiona" multimedia content all centered on sharing positive LGBTQ+ stories of kindness and courage in the face of adversity. Using her Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) experience, Fiona loves to build, speak, and produce to make good things happen.
Eric C. Peterson, MSOD, is a recognized facilitator and educator in the diversity and inclusion space with over 20 years of experience in unconscious bias, diversity and inclusion, learning strategies, and organization development.
Eric’s former and current clients include advertising firms, member associations, government agencies, healthcare organizations, performing
arts organizations, technology firms, and telecommunications companies. He has expertise in unconscious bias, allyship, the LGBTQ community, and white social identity.
For nine years, Eric was a Senior Consultant with Cook Ross, Inc, where he consulted, coached, and led a variety of workshops with audiences that included C-suites and Boards of Directors. Prior to joining Cook Ross, Eric was the manager for diversity and inclusion at the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the largest professional association for human resources professionals and diversity and inclusion practitioners. Before his time at SHRM, Eric was a diversity team member at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he managed diversity education design and programming and worked extensively with the firm’s employee resource groups.
While at Booz Allen, he received the firm’s prestigious Diversity Award. Eric is also the recipient of the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award from the National Conference of
Community and Justice. He has been a guest contributor for NBC Out and has been sourced as a diversity and inclusion expert by CNN, National Public Radio, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, and others.
Eric holds a Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) from an American.
University. He is also a dedicated film lover. In his non-work hours, he co-hosts a podcast about movies called The Rewind Project. Eric is also a novelist; Bold Strokes Books published his debut novel (Loyalty, Love & Vermouth) in November 2021.
