Artist Leslie Rose will give a lecture on the history of the woodblock printing technique, followed by a live demonstration.
Woodblock printing has a long history. For centuries, artists have cut into a variety of materials, then pressed the results on paper to make designs. During this lecture, Leslie Rose, a member of the Washington Printmakers Gallery, will give a demonstration of the process for woodblock printing. During this lecture, Rose will give the history of relief printing’s roots in Japan, then do a live demonstration of creating a print.
This class will be held on the A level of the MLK Library.
