Get your library card ready and watch with us!
Join us for an online discussion of LGBTQIA+ cinema with the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs. Each month, we will watch a film from the Library’s Kanopy collection and discuss it together on Twitter using the tag #DCQueerFlix. Past films have included "Moonlight," "Man Made," and "Portrait of a Lady on Fire."
In May we'll be celebrating Black Pride and watching the 2017 Lorraine Hansberry documentary, "Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart," directed by Tracy Heather Strain. The first feature documentary about the gifted playwright and activist, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the A Raisin in the Sun production - including interviews with original cast members, Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee, and Louis Gossett, Jr.
Note: For these events, we will each watch the movie in our own homes using the Library’s film collection, learn more at our Kanopy page.
