Through Our Lens: Stories of Black Excellence

This program is presented in partnership with the Anacostia Branch of DCPL and THEARC Theater. It will be an exploration of black culture through the eyes of the people who lived it.

Each month we will present a theme that will be supported by a documentary as well as related literature provided by DCPL and THEARC Theater. We will also invite prominent local leaders and influencers to come together for a discussion after the conclusion of the film. This program is important because it will expose Black and non-Black people to important facts and stories about Black culture. Learning about other cultures allows us to build the necessary foundations of unity. Each film will be between an hour to an hour and a half followed by the discussion which will be allotted the remaining time in the two hours.
