Get your library card ready and watch with us!
Join us for an online discussion of LGBTQIA+ cinema with the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs. Each month, we will watch a film from the Library’s Kanopy collection and discuss it together on Twitter using the tag #DCQueerFlix. Past films have included "Moonlight," "Strike a Pose," and "Reaching for the Moon."
To kick off 2022, we'll be watching the award-winning historical romance "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" written and directed by Céline Sciamma. Set in 18th century France, Marianne is hired to paint the wedding portrait of Heloise. As the women orbit each other, intimacy and attraction grow as they share Heloise's first moments of freedom.
Note: For these events, we will each watch the movie in our own homes using the Library’s film collection, learn more at our Kanopy page.
